Meta’s Quest+ Subscription Offers Monthly Access to Two Virtual Reality Games
Meta is venturing into the gaming subscription industry with the introduction of Meta Quest+. The CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has revealed that the plan will provide users with access to the “top-rated games on the platform” for a monthly fee of $8 or an annual fee of $60. The subscription is now available on Quest 2 and Quest Pro, and it will be available on Quest 3 when it is released in the autumn. Those who register for Meta Quest+ before the end of July will only be charged $1 for their first month.
You get access to two curated titles on the first day of each month. The first two are the hit first-person shooter Pistol Whip and Pixel Ripped 1995. August’s games are Walkabout Mini Golf and Mothergunship: Forge. As with services like PlayStation Plus Essential, you can access the games as long as you remain a member. If you cancel Meta Quest+ and re-register later, you will be able to access the games from your original membership period again.
Meta has adopted subscription models recently. Together with Meta Quest+, the company introduced Meta Verified this year, which is a verification service for Facebook and Instagram. In addition to the checkmark, the subscription includes additional protection against impersonation and “direct access to customer support”.
However, this is not the only subscription service for VR headsets. HTC has offered access to hundreds of VR games, apps and videos through its Viveport Infinity service since 2019.
