Report: Instagram Testing Feed Exclusively for Verified Accounts with Paid Subscription
Meta-owned Instagram is testing a feed that only allows posts from paid verified users.
Earlier this year, reports surfaced that Meta was testing a new subscription service that would allow Facebook and Instagram users to pay from a verified account.
Instagram chief Adam Mosseri said the company is “exploring this as a new control for people and a way for businesses and creators to be discovered.”
The new Meta Verified switch will appear as an option under “Following” and “Favorites” when you tap the Instagram logo at the top of the app, reports The Verge.
The Meta Verified program costs $11.99 online or $14.99 in the app because it gives people a new way to try to get more visibility on their Instagram feed.
Mosseri encouraged people to let us know if you’re interested in using this new feed for verified users.
Earlier this month, reports emerged that Meta plans to charge $14 for ad-free Instagram or Facebook in Europe, where users can pay a fee or opt-in to see personalized ads.
If users in Europe want to use both Instagram and Facebook, they can get the combination for $17 a month, reports The Wall Street Journal.
Those who pay for subscriptions would not see ads, while Meta would continue to offer free versions of apps with ads in the EU.
