Vivo V30 Pro Makes Zeiss Optics Camera Quality Accessible to a Wider Audience
Vivo’s V-series has finally received some love from Zeiss Optics, which means the quality imaging prowess that the Rs 40,000 segment has been eagerly waiting for. The Vivo V30 Pro benefits from major camera upgrades without compromising on design and comfort. Vivo’s collaboration with MediaTek for the Xseries has made it comfortable enough to offer it again in the V series.
Over the years, the company has also given us better front-facing cameras for selfies than the standard V models. Upgrades to the Vivo V30 Pro come at a cost, and the model now retails for Rs 41,999, putting it in the affordable flagship category. So what does Vivo bring to the table with the V30 Pro that makes it worth considering for buyers.
All eyes on the cameras
Vivo expands the scope of its cooperation with Zeiss Optics and now offers V30 series cameras. We’ve already tested their quality on the X90 Pro and X100 Pro recently, so we know what to expect. But can Vivo translate this flagship quality into another category? In our tests, we noticed the same Zeiss Optics quality, where colors look natural, details are sharp, albeit with a slightly different set of Sony lenses.
Vivo pointed out that the lenses get a coating from Zeiss Optics and we can say that the effect of these lenses is positive in every way. Software tuning can be adjusted for better results. But it’s hard to argue with the package on offer, and the lenses stand out in most conditions thanks to the redesigned Aura light, which adds depth and clarity to low-light photos.
Premium packaged
Over the years, Vivo’s V series has focused primarily on slim design and a selfie camera, and some of its aspects have been retained in the V30 Pro as well. You get a thin and tall 7.45mm thin body, which can be heavy and less grippy due to the dimensions and weight of 189 grams.
The textured finish on the back looks premium, but given the choice, we’d take any other phone as our primary choice, purely due to its delicate nature and curved 3D display, which has been known for its handling issues.
A strong performer
Vivo powers the V30 Pro with a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. This is a tried and tested combination of hardware that will perform well in most conditions and can handle daily tasks with ease, while still allowing you to play the occasional game.
The V30 Pro was never aimed at power users, who have better options on the market at this price point, but for most people the hardware under the hood of the V30 Pro should be enough.
Speaking of software, the V30 Pro runs on the Funtouch OS 14 version, which feels lighter than previous versions, but the preloaded applications, or bloatware, are still there.
We noticed that apps like Netflix, PhonePe, Snapchat and LinkedIn were installed, while Vivo’s own suite of apps came closer to Google’s offerings. The overall feedback of the OS is quite smooth and we didn’t notice any vibration that could make the experience salty.
“Professional” lasts a long time
Vivo manages to fit a large 5,000 mAh battery into the V30 Pro, which is a big design feat. The built-in battery controls the heating to a great extent and the chipset offers its thermal management expertise to make the phone last for long hours. You also have 80W charging support to charge the phone quickly, which Vivo usually offers in most of its premium phones.
Vivo V30 Pro has taken a leap in price with all the updates and definitely with the installation of four rear cameras. But people looking for an all-in-one might be inclined to look for other options, but the V30 Pro is a sure bet.
