WhatsApp Video Viewers Can Now Go Back and Forth with Forward and Rewind Options
Good news for WhatsApp users, the Meta-owned instant messaging app is now rolling out a new feature for videos. The new option allows users to skip videos by double-tapping the left or right edge of the screen.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, users have long been asking for new tools to better control video playback, and it looks like their feedback has played a big role in the development of the new feature.
“Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.24.6 update available on the Google Play Store, we noticed that WhatsApp is introducing a feature to skip videos forward and backward,” the report said.
A screenshot shared by WABetaInfo revealed that it is now possible to skip videos forward and backward by double-tapping the left or right edge of the screen.
This feature works similarly to how it works on YouTube, so it’s familiar and intuitive to users who are already used to browsing videos on the popular video sharing platform.
With the new video skip feature, WhatsApp users can now easily navigate within the videos they have received or sent. This means you can now skip ahead to get to the most important part of the video, or rewind to re-watch something you might have missed without a progress bar.
“This feature not only saves time, but also improves content navigation, as users can easily rewind to return to a specific moment or fast forward to skip less relevant parts. This feature adds convenience that was previously unavailable on WhatsApp,” the report said.
The ability to skip forward and backward in videos is currently available to a select group of beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta update for Android from the Google Play Store. This feature will gradually become available to a wider audience in the coming weeks.
