Oppo Find N2 Flip Review: A good first attempt
Oppo has made a surprise entry into the Indian premium smartphone market by launching the Oppo Find N2 Flip foldable. Samsung’s foldable smartphones were the only choice for Indian consumers for a long time, but with Oppo’s entry into the segment, there is at least one other similar device that buyers can now compare with.
Speaking of comparisons, Oppo seems to have done its homework well. The Oppo Find N2 Flip directly competes with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, which is currently priced around Rs 83,000. On the other hand, the Oppo Find N2 costs more and is priced at Rs 89,999. However, Oppo seems to have solved a few genuine problems with foldable phones, which justifies the somewhat higher pricing.
After using the Oppo Find N2 Flip smartphone for a while, here’s what we think about the phone.

Oppo Find N2 Flip: What’s Cool?
Oppo claims that the Find N2 Flip is a better foldable smartphone compared to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4. First of all, Oppo has somewhat solved the folding phone wrinkle problem. The crease on the OPPO Find N2 Flip’s foldable screen is barely visible and can’t be felt during use. Of course, we can’t call it an “invisible crease” as OPPO advertises, but it’s a huge improvement over Samsung’s Flip or Fold smartphones. You can be sure that the crease in itself is not a pain point for OPPO Find N2 Flip users.
Another big USP is the cover screen size. Folding, especially in flip phones, the clamshell screen is important simply because the larger clamshell screen means users don’t have to open the device every time to read notifications, messages, click selfies, or use widgets. In addition to the convenience of a larger outdoor screen.
The hinge quality of a foldable smartphone makes a lot of difference. Oppo Find N2 Flip has significantly improved the design of the hinges. One of the most important innovations is that there is no gap near the hinge area when the screen is folded. This is important because the slot traps dust, debris, coins, keys and other small objects on the screen when the device is folded and stored in trouser pockets.
Apart from the display and design, the Oppo Find N2 Flip offers decent performance features with the Mediatek Dimensity 9000+ chipset. This flip phone is more for style than multitasking and gaming. Despite this, you can expect good gaming performance with this phone as well. For regular users who just want a stylish smartphone, this device has more than enough firepower for their daily needs.
Speaking of cameras, while the Oppo Find N2 Flip can offer great angles for taking selfies and photos, thanks to the different flex mode, the actual image quality depends on the lighting and the sensor you’re using. The 50-megapixel main sensor does a decent job of providing detail and color accuracy, but the 8-megapixel wide-angle can be disappointing at times. Oppo needs to work on the zoom as the results lack detail. Overall, the cameras are great, but given the price tag, users would definitely want better pictures.
Moving on to battery life, this is one area where Oppo has done a better job. 44W fast charging helps a lot and the battery life is also surprisingly good. You can easily expect to get over 24 hours on a single charge when mixed with 5G.
Oppo Find N2 Flip: What’s not cool?
Using a flip phone is all about style, but one area the Oppo Find N2 Flip could have done better is software. It runs ColorOS 13, and as soon as you open the device, you’re greeted with the same user interface you’re used to seeing on budget and mid-range phones. Of course, we can’t expect Oppo to create a completely separate user interface for its first foldable device, but what could have been better are unique software customizations and slight improvements. For example, the cover screen interface could have been more attractive, while Oppo could not have opted for bloatware and offered custom icons out of the box. Overall, Oppo could have offered unique software experiences and looks to differentiate the device.
People might argue that the Find N2 Flip doesn’t have an IP rating, but let’s be clear about this – flip phones are fragile compared to regular devices and you need to be careful when using them.
Oppo Find N2 Flip: Should You Buy?
The Oppo Find N2 Flip is a good first attempt. There is very little room for the phone not to hold, and if you want to try a foldable phone for the first time, you can go ahead. Oppo has undoubtedly made a good device and it is a better flip phone compared to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4.
But making a good device is different than selling a device. Apart from getting people to spend their iPhone budget on a foldable phone in India, Oppo has a big task to change its brand image to gain the mind share of premium customers.
One aspect that buyers should keep in mind is that foldable phones are unique and will continue to look stylish through 2023 and beyond. Several brands such as Xiaomi and OnePlus are expected to introduce their foldable phones this year, and of course Samsung will launch its new foldable range in August 2023. So it might be a good idea to wait and see. Increased competition is always good news for buyers.
