Microsoft Offers Generative AI Course to Educate Learners

Microsoft has introduced a new initiative in its Skills for Jobs program to enhance comprehension of artificial intelligence (AI). In collaboration with LinkedIn, the company has launched a learning pathway that provides free introductory courses on generative AI. The objective is to equip employees with fundamental AI understanding and promote responsible AI frameworks. Upon successful completion of the coursework, participants will receive a Career Essentials certificate, making it an appealing option for individuals seeking professional certification in Generative AI.

The importance of AI talent is growing globally, and India has emerged as a pioneer with the world’s second largest pool of AI talent. Notably, it leads to both the spread of AI skills and the concentration of AI capabilities. Despite having around 420,000 AI/ML big data analytics professionals, the country still has a significant gap of 51% between supply and demand for such talent.

Microsoft emphasizes the transformative potential of artificial intelligence and recognizes that the fast pace of data work is outpacing our ability to keep up. In response to that, the company has launched this campaign to empower individuals with AI expertise. In the last two years, Microsoft claims to have trained around 70,000 female students from Tier II and III cities for AI skills. The goal is to bridge the knowledge gap and promote the adoption of participatory artificial intelligence.

Gunjan Patel, President and Philanthropy Director, Microsoft India, highlights the critical importance of AI skills in corporate training strategies and is the third most important priority next to analytical and creative thinking. He recognizes the potential of AI to empower employees and emphasizes the importance of ensuring that everyone has the necessary skills to use AI effectively. The AI Skills Initiative is seen as a significant step towards achieving this goal and promoting a new era of technological innovation.

Generative AI has gained significant traction since the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in November 2022. This state-of-the-art chatbot service has impressed and in some cases alarmed users with its considerable expertise. While many people use it to speed up their tasks, there have been concerns about potential job displacement as AI can instantly complete tasks that might take humans significantly longer. Nevertheless, artificial intelligence is increasingly being used worldwide for various applications, increasing efficiency and productivity. This is why companies consider AI experts very important.
