Bill Gates: AI Could Make the 3-Day Work Week a Reality!

In a recent podcast, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates shared his perspective on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential to transform the job market. While some experts have expressed concerns about AI overpowering humans and eliminating half of the jobs, Gates believes that AI will not take jobs away but rather “change them forever.” To learn more about Gates’ views on AI and its implications, including his thoughts on a potential 3-day work week, listen to the podcast.

Will artificial intelligence create a 3-day work week?

Bill Gates recently appeared on Trevor Noah’s What Now podcast, during which they discussed the benefits and risks of artificial intelligence. The billionaire said in the podcast that integrating artificial intelligence into work could create a 3-day work week. The podcast discussion discussed how technology benefits humanity and changes the way we work for the better.

During the 45-minute session, Gates talked about how humans will adapt to technologies like artificial intelligence. Thanks to an effective transition period and government support, people do not have to work 40-48 hours a week. Artificial intelligence will create more free time for people and the day will come when they “don’t have to work so hard”. Gates said, “If you end up with a society where you only have to work three days a week, that’s probably OK.”

We also recently reported on autonomy studies where people in the US and UK could switch to a 4-day work week by 2033 with the help of artificial intelligence. There is a lot of debate about the benefits and risks of AI, but Gates has also discussed in the past that the impact of AI will not be dramatic, but it could be as big as the introduction of personal computers. “Word processing applications did not eliminate office work, but they changed it permanently. Employers and workers had to adapt, and they did,” Gates said in July.

While the idea of AI taking over our workplaces is scary, such an optimistic statement about the future of technology can spark thoughts about how AI could create opportunities for really hard-working workers to earn well and improve their lives.
