How to Enable Microsoft Bing Search on iPhone ChatGPT App

OpenAI has taken advantage of the immense popularity of ChatGPT by introducing a paid subscription service called ChatGPT Plus. This subscription offers users quicker response times, internet connectivity, and priority access to new functionalities. Additionally, OpenAI has now released the ChatGPT app for Android and iOS devices, enabling users to experience the capabilities of AI on their mobile devices. With each update, the AI chatbot continues to improve, incorporating new features like Siri shortcuts.

Now in the latest update, OpenAI has added another new feature that will please iPhone users. It has introduced a built-in Microsoft Bing app in the iOS version.

Microsoft Bing Search is coming to the iOS version of ChatGPT

In the official release notes for the app’s latest iOS version (via The Verge ), a new Browse feature is available for users who use GPT-4 and Bing Search together to search the web and deliver answers. That’s why it uses Bing Search to provide even more detailed information. It’s important to note that Bing Search integration was already available in the web version of ChatGPT, but iOS users now have access to it as well. When enabled, it provides “comprehensive answers and timely insights into events and data that extend beyond the model’s original training data.”

This solves a major problem that has persisted in ChatGPT. Unlike Google Bard, which has a web connection, ChatGPT is trained on data from before September 2021, meaning it has no knowledge of world events after that. In addition to the Bing Search integration, this latest update also brings improvements to the search history, as tapping on a search result will now take you directly to the corresponding part of the conversation.

Using the built-in Microsoft Bing Search

However, note that the Bing Search integration has arrived on iOS devices and is only for ChatGPT Plus subscribers, which means you can use Bing Search in the ChatGPT app if you pay the $20 monthly fee.

To enable Bing search in the ChatGPT app, go to the Features tab and change the AI template to GPT-4. Next, tap Browse with Bing from the drop-down menu.
