What to Expect from Amazon Prime Day 2023

With Amazon Prime Day approaching, it’s wise to start planning what items you’ll be searching for during the sale. From electronics to apparel to household essentials, a wide range of products will be discounted, and Prime members will have access to all the deals on Amazon’s website. ReturnByte will be highlighting the top tech deals available on Amazon and other platforms, but it’s crucial to be prepared beforehand to ensure you get the most out of this year’s Prime Day.

When is Amazon Prime Day?

It is still unclear when Amazon Prime Day 2023 will take place. If Amazon follows the familiar pattern, Prime Day 2023 could be in mid-July: a two-day sale event took place on July 12 and 13 in 2022. Since it’s already mid-June, we expect Amazon to announce the Prime dates. Date 2023 soon and we will update this post when the information is available.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon’s annual shopping event offers exclusive deals for Prime members, which means you have to be a Prime subscriber on Prime Day to take advantage of the savings. Amazon is still offering a 30-day free trial for new Prime subscribers, so you can start your free trial now and get in on the action.

If you don’t pay for Prime and don’t plan to, you should still check out Amazon for Prime Day discounts available to all shoppers. Additionally, other retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, and Target also have their own competing Prime Day sales during that time.

Amazon Prime Day Deals

Amazon Prime Day may have official dates, but in recent years the company has started pushing deals well in advance of the event. We expect to see Amazon Prime Day early access deals this year as well.

Whether it’s early Prime Day deals or sales of the day, Amazon’s gadgets are almost guaranteed to be discounted at the event. You can safely bet things like Echo speakers, Kindle e-readers, and Fire TV devices will be at record low Prime Day prices, so if you’ve seen any of these items, Prime Day is the time to buy. . Prime Day only matches Black Friday in terms of sales, so while this means you’ll likely have another chance to pick up a smart speaker on the cheap, it’s probably not until the Christmas shopping season.

Make no mistake, Amazon gadgets aren’t the only deals on Prime Day. You’ll find clothing, shoes, housewares, appliances, accessories and more at the sale, but here at ReturnByte we naturally focus on electronics. We expect this year’s Prime Day to be similar to last year’s, with big discounts on headphones, earbuds, gaming accessories, SSDs and microSD cards, robot vacuums, and more.

It’s also worth mentioning what kind of deals you can expect to see during Prime Day. Some offers are valid throughout the event, while others are one-day only discounts. These are the hardest to predict because Amazon usually doesn’t give any indication of how long a particular sale will last. We recommend buying the products you like the most as soon as you see their price drop – this way you’ll make sure you get them while the discount is valid and the product is still in stock.

You can also expect to see some “Lightning Deals” during Prime Day. Fortunately, these are usually clearly marked with how much time is left to receive the offer on the product page. In our experience, only a handful of these flash sales are actually worth your money, but if you see a price drop on your wishlist over the next few hours, you better grab it right away.

How to Prepare for Amazon Prime Day

We’ve already alluded to this, but it’s best to go into Amazon Prime Day as prepared as possible. This basically means knowing exactly what you want to look for so you can stay focused and avoid distractions. All of Amazon.com is overpowered on Prime Day, so the less time you spend aimlessly browsing, the more your wallet will thank you later.

Two simple things you can do before Prime Day is make a list and bookmark Price Tracker. For the former, consider the most important items you want to pick up on Prime Day. You can either do this the old fashioned way on a sticky note or use Amazon’s wish list feature. In the latter case, add the items you want to buy on Prime Day to your wish list (or better yet, make your own wish list with only your Prime Day wishes) and return to the list during the shopping event. Not only will you have everything you want all in one place, you’ll also be able to see which of these items are cheaper on Prime Day than they were when you originally added them to your list.

When it comes to price tracking, sites like CamelCamelCamel allow you to track the price of certain products on Amazon. You can view price history charts and create your own price drop alerts, so you get emails when something you want gets a discount. CamelCamelCamel also has some browser extensions that you can download so you don’t have to navigate away from the Amazon product page to check its price history.

We know that not everyone—even all Prime members—will flock to Amazon on Prime Day. Whether you like these kinds of flashy consumer goods or just don’t want to give Amazon more money, there are plenty of reasons why you might skip Prime Day altogether. But that doesn’t mean you have to skip all the sales that happen at the same time. Retailers like Walmart, Target, Best Buy and others all have competing Prime Day sales, and many of them match the discounted prices found on Amazon. We recommend checking them out if you want to pick up a few items for less without spending any money on Amazon.
