June 2023 Pixel Update Brings Exciting New Features For Google Phones and Watches

The latest Pixel Drop update from Google, released in June, offers a range of feature updates for both Pixel phones and the Pixel Watch. While previous Drop updates have been incremental, this latest release is packed with new features, including improvements to calling, camera functionality, connectivity, and more.

Pixel Drop June update for Pixel phones

If you have one of the compatible Pixel phones, the June 2023 Pixel Drop will include several updates for your device. First, you have support for emergency notifications from Google Assistant. This is like tracking down a friend or close relative, and if they don’t come back after a given timeline, Assistant will alert the person and also provide their real-time location. The voice assistant now gets two new voices, i.e. a total of 12 voices.

Crash detection is the other major update to the new Pixel Drop, as it also shares real-time location and call status with your emergency contacts so they know when you’ve been involved in an accident.

Then you have a camera-focused update just for Pixel 7 Pro users called Macro Focus, which works in videos and gives you fine details on your subject. On other Pixel models, the front camera gets self-timed selfies that can be set to 3-10 seconds. The phones can also convert their wallpaper into 3D, which seems to offer a different experience on the home screen.

Another interesting feature is the ability to export transcripts from Recorder to Google Docs and even search for speakers in audio clips. The update is only available for those with a Pixel 6 or later model. Adaptive charging gets smarter on Pixel phones, and some Pixel models have an intuitive vibration level based on where they’re stored.

The Pixel Watch can track your SpO2 levels and also tell you when it changes while you sleep, as long as you’re wearing the smartwatch. The Google watch also alerts you when your heart rate is either unusually high or low. The smartwatch also stops tracking your steps when you take a break and starts again when you resume your workout.
