LinkedIn launches new AI feature to assist users in composing messages and enhancing networking

In the first two months of 2024, numerous industries have experienced a surge in job cuts, resulting in approximately 32,000 workers losing their employment. This downsizing is an attempt by companies to balance out the excessive hiring that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. In light of these circumstances, individuals are increasingly relying on LinkedIn, a leading social media platform, to seek new job opportunities. To assist users in this endeavor, LinkedIn has recently introduced an innovative AI-powered feature that simplifies the process of introducing oneself or inquiring about others.

LinkedIn’s new AI feature

In a blog post, LinkedIn announced that Premium users can now use the power of artificial intelligence to compose a message. It retrieves information from both your profile and the person you want to chat with, whether they’re in your network or outside. Users can choose whether to introduce themselves or ask about their current or previous work experience.

This feature is rolling out to LinkedIn Premium users, so if you have a subscription, you should start seeing it soon.

Naman Goel, product director at LinkedIn, announced this feature: “One of the biggest challenges people face in networking is starting the first conversation with someone. The problem of a blank page can feel particularly daunting. That’s why we’ve introduced a new Premium feature to help.”

It’s just one of many AI-powered features introduced on the platform over the past few months. See others below.

Other LinkedIn AI features

Explore with Job Collections is just one of the AI features LinkedIn has released in recent months. There are a handful of other AI features that can help users grow their network. LinkedIn’s AI-powered profile builder analyzes all the information in your profile and identifies key skills and experiences to highlight in the About and Headline sections, helping your profile stand out from the crowd.

LinkedIn Recruiter now features AI-assisted messaging that can help users create personalized messages, saving recruiters time, increasing candidate engagement, and making meaningful connections. In addition, AI-enhanced job descriptions can quickly generate job descriptions based on a few details.
