Sundar Pichai, Google CEO, Addresses Gemini AI Mistake: Read His Response

Google’s AI journey has recently hit a major roadblock when its AI image generator received a lot of backlash and accusations of being racist with content created with twisted historical facts. The company was understandably forced to stop going public as it works to fix the issues that have brought these negative signs.

But now Google CEO Sundar Pichai has finally spoken out in front of his employees, telling them that these are “unacceptable mistakes.” Pichai has addressed the issue in an internal memo cited in a report published this week, saying the company is making a whole list of changes and improvements to the AI mechanism to ensure these issues and bugs don’t happen again.

“We plan to take clear steps, including structural changes, updated product guidelines, improved release processes, effective reviews and team consolidation, and technical recommendations. We will review all of this and make the necessary changes,” Pichai said in the memo. The head of Google admitted that no artificial intelligence is perfect, but the world expects a giant like Google not to make these mistakes, which sets the bar much higher for the company.

He claims that changes to the AI tool are already showing better results in several prompts, but we’ll likely have to wait a few weeks before the new-look AI generation tool is released to the public again. if these changes are really effective, and fix the mistakes made by the AI tool in the past.

Google has repeatedly talked about the slowdown in AI adoption, and cases like this are a clear sign that these tools need more learning and data training, which includes understanding the context before sharing the results of those prompts. Pichai is under intense pressure to get things right or risk losing his position as head of Google for the foreseeable future.
