  1. Tech giants are fighting misinformation and AI content in elections

Six leading tech companies, Adobe, Google, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI, TikTok and others, sign an agreement to outline their strategy to prevent the misuse of artificial intelligence tools to disrupt democratic elections. A joint statement from the companies said, “In a critical year for global elections, technology companies are working in agreement to combat the fraudulent use of artificial intelligence targeting voters.” The report further said, “We hope to finalize and present the details on Friday at the Munich Security Conference,” according to a PTI report.

2. Nokia introduces an AI-powered tool for industrial workers

Technology company Nokia announced its AI-powered tool that allows industrial workers to create messages about warnings, malfunctioning machines and other real-time data collection. The artificial intelligence tool is called MX Workmate, which also aims to expand Nokia’s communication technology. Daeuble, director of Nokia’s Enterprise Solutions Marketing, said the tool “includes early warnings of machine failures and recommended corrective actions, solutions to improve production quality and speeds, or to deal with factory accidents,” according to a Reuters report.

3. University of Pennsylvania to introduce AI-based UG courses

The University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Science has announced a Bachelor of Engineering (B.S.E.) degree in Artificial Intelligence (AI). This is the first undergraduate program at an Ivy League university, as well as the first undergraduate programs in artificial intelligence in the United States.
