Developers of ‘Alto’s Adventure’ Reveal New Game Focused on Sheep Herding

If you are familiar with the calming Alto series, you will feel right at home with Summerhill. The game heavily focuses on a peaceful countryside environment, allowing players to solve puzzles at their leisurely pace. The graphics are reminiscent of the Alto series and other popular indie games such as Monument Valley. Additionally, Todd Baker, the composer of Monument Valley 2, has created a “folk-inspired” soundtrack for Summerhill.

On the gameplay side, the developer promises “flowing herding-based gameplay” and “gentle problem-solving” as well as a narrative mystery about the landscape’s ancient past. You also herd and corral your sheep with your trusty dog, all while honing your skills to “team up for more complex puzzles”. The narrative is wordless, but the developer promises that it will be filled with “themes of duty, partnership and morality.”

“Summerhill is a completely new IP that aims to build on the themes we love most as a studio,” writes Land & Sea founder Harry Nesbitt. “Herding sheep is in many ways in our DNA and we really wanted to do justice to this timeless tradition and tell a story that can only be told this way.”

There’s no release date yet, as the title is currently in active development, but it’s a long enough journey for a trailer. This team has been busy lately. Some members, regrouped as Snowman Games, recently released an exclusive game for Netflix.
