Otter, an AI-powered tool, assists users in converting spoken words into easily readable and comprehensible text. This productivity-enhancing app utilizes an AI algorithm to process audio and generate text. The otter.ai app offers multiple functionalities, including the ability to record meetings and upload the audio or video for transcription. Additionally, it introduces the Otter Bot, which can join video meetings and automatically transcribe speech. With the Otter Bot, users can record audio, take notes, capture action items, and create summaries. Now, Otter is expanding its AI chatbot capabilities to group chats through a feature called AI Chat in Channels.

Otter AI Chat channels

In a blog post, Otter’s Product Manager Josh Gould announced the new feature, which combines its AI chatbot’s creative AI capabilities. Users can now create dedicated channels for teams, projects, or topics, promoting focused discussion and information sharing.

Channels’ AI chat allows users in groups to ask the AI chatbot about previous conversations in the channel to gain insights. In addition, it can also answer queries about key points discussed during the meeting, and the AI chatbot provides answers from the context of the conversation.

It aims to provide a “powerful multi-user experience” by ensuring that all channel users are up-to-date and on the same page.

AI Chat in Channels can also create summaries, action items, and even emails, all powered by the channel’s collective intelligence. Teammates can also collaborate with each other and with Otter AI Chat. It can even generate meeting-specific content such as summaries and follow-ups.

This feature aims to transform team collaboration by combining meeting data with asynchronous communication.
