Google has recently introduced Duet AI, a long-awaited feature that was initially announced at the Google I/O conference on May 10. During the conference, CEO Sundar Pichai emphasized the transformative impact of this AI assistant on the usage of Workspace apps. Duet AI, Google’s proprietary generative AI model, has been seamlessly integrated into various Workspace apps such as Gmail, Meet, Drive, Docs, Slides, and others. This AI assistant possesses the ability to compose emails, jot down real-time notes during video calls, generate personalized plans, and perform additional tasks. Let’s delve into its functionalities.

According to a report by The Verge, Google announced yesterday, August 29, that its Duet AI assistant will soon be available in all of its Workspace apps for all of its paying users. The cost of the tool is $30 per month per user. Prior to launch, 1 million Duet AI users used the feature through the Trusted Tester program. Now it’s available to all 10 million users.

Google Duet AI: Features

General availability of the Duet AI assistant is based on pre-orders that Google opened in June. Later, it will be open to all users who are willing to pay the fees. With Duet AI, users can take advantage of the following features.

Gmail gets a “help me write” feature that appears in the lower right corner of a new email. By tapping on it, users can type a prompt into the email they’re trying to write, and the AI assistant will compose the email based on the settings. Once the draft is complete, AI also allows users to refine the email.

Google Docs has another “help me write” feature. Here you can write documents, blog posts, poems, manuals and more. When you give it a prompt and a style, it will give you the information and fit it into a format that looks close to the document. You can then edit it to your liking. The same feature can also be used to refine or recreate an already written document.

In Google Sheets, users have a “Help me organize” Duet feature where you can describe what you want to accomplish, and Sheets creates custom templates to help you get started.

Similarly, Google Slides has a “help me visualize” feature that lets you create images for text prompts in a variety of styles.

Google Meet’s “create background” feature allows you to use an image created in Slides as a background. In addition, you can also take real-time notes and Studio Look feature to show you more clearly.
