Duolingo Introduces Maths and Music Lessons to its Language Learning Platform

Duolingo, the renowned language learning app company, has an exciting announcement to make. They are introducing a fresh application named Duolingo Music, which goes beyond language education and also incorporates mathematics and music into its curriculum.

This announcement comes after reports suggested Duolingo was looking for music experts earlier this year. They have been working on this app and now they are ready to launch it. Duolingo promised to reveal more details at its upcoming Duocon conference on October 11, according to a report from Tech Crunch.

So what’s in this new app? Well, that’s what they call a “multi-subject experience.” It includes Duolingo Math, Duolingo Music and of course their famous language lessons in one app. They give us a closer look at Duocon.

Liveliness to the learning experience

In a promotional video, Duolingo offers a peek at the first official product images, revealing that the revamped app offers easy-to-digest lessons, engaging interactive exercises, and opportunities to improve your skills. As for the musical side, code buried in the Duolingo app has hinted at piano keys and drums, as well as lines of code that refer to music sessions, songs, and music unit reviews, among other intriguing features.

What’s in the Duolingo Music App?

While Duolingo has not revealed all the intricate details of its new music product, it has confirmed that the app will include “hundreds” of lessons and include more than 200 “fun and familiar songs”. This new offering leverages the trademark gamified learning experience and interactive exercises that have made Duolingo a household name in language learning.

Why Duolingo adds music

The company’s endeavor into the field of music education is partly motivated by a glaring need in the United States. Amazingly, more than 3.6 million students don’t have access to music education, and according to Duolingo, private lessons often cost up to $400 per session. Additionally, studies have consistently shown that learning music can produce significant benefits in areas such as reading, verbal communication, listening skills, and math.

Duolingo has been working hard to expand its successful learning model to cover a wider range of subjects. In the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, Duolingo introduced a free English literacy app for kids, Duolingo ABC. Last October, Duolingo Math was launched, the company’s first major expansion beyond language learning.
