Elon Musk Announces X Will Soon Provide YouTube-Like Service on Smart TVs

Elon Musk is still aiming for the sky and his next big target is YouTube. His platform X is ready to serve a larger audience with a new version of the streaming service that will also be played on big screens. Musk shared details of the upcoming feature in a post on the platform where he talked about people watching long videos on their smart TV screens.

He has repeatedly talked about making X an app for everything, and it looks like the platform will soon have a long list of features that should attract millions. X already supports video/audio calling for all users, including those using the platform for free.

You get other benefits like a verified badge, edit button, longer posts and more if you pay for X Premium.

Musk didn’t provide specific details about the upcoming service and how it plans to compete with a rip-off like YouTube, and whether it will be free for everyone or held back by a premium version, likely limiting its reach and viewers. It is likely that X will initially offer the feature to its paid users and then make it available to everyone.

Just a few days ago, X introduced “articles,” a new way to share long-form written content on the platform. Premium users who pay for X services can now submit articles to the platform with stylized text, embedded images and videos.

“Articles is a new way to share long-form written content on X. Publishing articles is a feature limited to Premium+ subscribers and verified organizations. Articles are available globally,” the company said in a statement.

In addition to text, articles can contain images, videos, GIFs, messages and links.

You can also format text with headings, subheadings, bold, italics, strikethrough, indentation, numeric, and bullet points. “Once an article is published, it can be read and shared by anyone at X according to the audience controls you’ve selected for the article,” the company said.
