Google Pixel Watch 2 Unveiled With Enhanced Fitness Monitoring and Quad-Core Processor: See Price and Specifications
Google has finally launched the second-generation Pixel Watch 2 during its Made by Google 2023 event alongside the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones. The watch has several updates and features compared to the previous generation model, despite its similar appearance – the same curved glass front and circular dial. Last year, when the Pixel Watch launched alongside the Pixel 7 series, it didn’t debut in India. However, this year the Pixel Watch 2 will also be available in India.
The watch also doubles down on its fitness-focused features by including three new multi-path sensors – making the Pixel Watch 2 capable of detecting body temperature, improving heart rate measurement by 40 percent, and even assessing the body’s stress levels.
Pixel Watch 2 specs and features
The Google Pixel Watch 2 retains the same screen size as the first generation Pixel Watch, with a 320 PPI OLED display and 1000 nits of peak brightness. The watch now has a new faster Qualcomm 5100 quad-core processor.
With the new Pixel Watch 2, Google has improved its exercise tracking capabilities with new multi-path sensors, and the watch also has a revamped Fitbit app that offers a bunch of new tabs and new AI features. The app also offers personalized health questions based on your metrics and even gives users detailed graphs of fitness data. But this new “Fitbit labs” program will be introduced next year.
Another valuable feature offered by the watch is “Security Check”. This feature allows users to set a timer, and when the time runs out, the watch will log in with the user to inquire about their well-being. If no response is received, the watch shares the user’s real-time location with emergency contacts. This has been carried over from Pixel phones.
As for battery life, Google claims that the Pixel Watch 2 offers 24 hours of battery life from its 306mAh battery cell. It also offers 12 hours of use in just 30 minutes of charging time. In addition, the Pixel Watch 2 is made from 100% recycled aluminum, which is different from the stainless steel used in the last generation model.
Pixel Watch 2 price and availability
The Pixel Watch 2 will retail for $349.99 in the US, the same price as last year. US users can pre-order it today and it will start shipping next week. Users also get 6 months of Fitbit Premium with the Pixel Watch 2.
In India, the Pixel Watch is sold exclusively on Flipkart for Rs 39,990, but if you pre-order the Pixel 8 series phone, you can get the Pixel Watch 2 for Rs 19,999.
