GuliKit’s SNES-Style Steam Deck and Switch Dock Unveiled

As I am in the process of setting up a new home entertainment system, I have decided to purchase a dock for my Steam Deck to connect it to my television. Instead of opting for Valve’s official Steam Deck Docking Station, I am pleased that I have not made that choice yet, as I have found a more fashionable alternative from accessory manufacturer GuliKit.

That’s because it takes a design cue or two from the Super Nintendo. It has a gray shell and a pair of large purple switches that may only be there for aesthetic reasons. The docking port, which you can protect with a sliding dust cover when not in use, has a couple of vents.

On the back are USB-C charging and power supply ports, as well as Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI and three USB 3.0 ports. The dock supports up to 100 W power supply and 4K 60 Hz HDMI video output. It even has hidden storage for four microSD cards.

It’s not just a Steam Deck that you can also jump into the dock. GuliKit says it works with similar handhelds, such as the ROG Ally and Ayaneo systems. You can also use it to play Nintendo Switch on your TV. GuliKit notes that you need to place the switch upside down to access the console’s USB-C port. However, there is something quite fitting about using a Switch placed in this dock to play SNES games.

Pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, but the dock should be available in September, GuliKit told The Verge. At least for now, the only downside is that it’s based on the US version of the SNES rather than the refined European model.
