New features on Instagram’s Threads allow users to save drafts and take photos directly in the app; Here’s what’s changed

Threads, the social media platform similar to Twitter, is enhancing its functionality by adding two long-awaited features – the option to save drafts and take photos directly within the app. Instagram head Adam Mosseri revealed this update, which is designed to improve user experience and simplify the sharing of thoughts and moments.

New features in Threads

The implementation of these features follows a testing period with a selected group of users and responds to user requests for increased functionality. Mosseri emphasized that these additions are tailored to meet the evolving needs of the Threads community, making it easier for users to express themselves on the platform, reports TechCrunch.

With the draft save feature, Threads users can now write posts at their leisure and save them for later use. This feature better aligns Threads with its competitor X, which has long offered multiple draft storage. However, Threads currently only allows you to save one draft at a time.

In addition, the application allows users to take photos directly within the platform, eliminating the need to switch between different applications. By tapping the camera icon in the composer, users can take a photo and choose to share it immediately or save it for later. This streamlined process increases spontaneity and removes barriers to content creation.

The introduction of these features coincides with speculation that X might adopt Threads’ carousel format for displaying images, hinting at a possible change in how images are presented on the rival platform.

About threads

Threads has steadily evolved since its launch in July 2023, introducing new features such as bookmarking, trending topics, and cross-posting from Facebook. These updates show that the app is committed to staying competitive and meeting the diverse needs of its user base.

The latest additions to Threads reflect a proactive approach to improving the user experience and establishing the app as a formidable contender in social media. Threads has the ability to save sketches and take photos in the app, so users can share their ideas and moments more easily and efficiently.
