OpenAI Sora public release

OpenAI’s CTO Mira Murati talked about his new artificial intelligence video creation tool, Sora, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. Murati not only presented the features of the tool, but also revealed when the tool will be available for public use. He briefly explained how the tool can create intuitive videos in seconds with just text prompts. So far, however, Sora has only been available to visual artists, designers and filmmakers.

Now the company plans to bring the tool to more users. Murati said in the interview that Sora will be publicly available “this year,” meaning it’s only a few months away. It was also highlighted that the company plans to add audio to the videos to add a more realistic feel. The company has more plans for Sora, as Murati said: “We’re trying to figure out how to use this technology as a tool for people to modify and create.”

Murati also explains that the data used to train Sora was publicly available or licensed. It utilizes images available on Shutterstock. He also emphasized that Sora does not create videos of public figures in accordance with company policy and all videos created with the tool would be watermarked.
