Apple to Cease Providing Support for iPhone Users on X and YouTube

There may be a shift in the way Apple users seek assistance for their problems, potentially making it more challenging to report issues through popular social media platforms such as X and YouTube.

According to MacRumours, Apple is planning to make major changes to the way it offers customer support. They’re going to say goodbye to the people who help you on Twitter, YouTube, and the Apple Support Community website. This means that later this year you will no longer get direct help from Apple employees on these websites.

No more social media support

Starting October 1st, the @AppleSupport Twitter account may stop giving you personal replies to your direct messages. Instead, you may receive automated messages telling you how to contact Apple in other ways for help.

Apple may also stop answering technical questions in the comments section of its YouTube support channel.

Apple support community

Apple also plans to do away with paid Community Specialist jobs in Apple’s support community, where people go online to ask for advice.

Apple employees are unlikely to be laid off. Apple offers its social media support employees a choice. They can switch to a job where they help people over the phone, but not everyone may want to do this. Some sources say that Apple is making it difficult for these employees to move to other chat-based support roles unless they have a good reason, such as medical reasons. This has made some members of the social media support team unhappy.

Training for a new role

People who want to switch to phone support receive training where they learn how to help people over the phone. According to one source, this transition is scheduled to be completed in November. But those who don’t want to work on the phone have been urged to look for jobs outside of Apple.

Apple has been helping people on Twitter since 2016. The social media site was controversially bought by billionaire Elon Musk last year and later changed to X. Apple recently explained their decision to their employees. They said most customers prefer to get help over the phone.

So far, Apple hasn’t said much about these changes. They have not given an official answer to questions about the events. So you have to wait and see how things develop.
