Now Japanese teardown experts Fomalhaut Techno Solutions have released a latest report claiming how much it could have cost Apple to make the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro.

According to the report (via Nikkei), the bill of materials for the iPhone 12 (BoM) is $373 while that for the iPhone 12 Pro is $406. That’s a difference of $326 for the iPhone 12 and $593 for the iPhone 12 Pro. However, as we have said for previous BoM reports. The difference does not mean that the amount goes directly into Apple’s pockets. Much of it goes into marketing, transportation, taxes, certifications and more.

The two most expensive components of the new iPhones are also mentioned. And like last time, one of them is Samsung’s OLED display, while the other is Qualcomm’s X55 5G modem. Samsung’s screen is priced at $70 per unit while Qualcomm’s modem is priced at $90 per unit. In addition, the production cost of the A14 Bionic is $40. Some other expensive parts include RAM at $12.8 per unit and flash memory at $19.2 per unit. Sony camera sensors range between $7.4 and $7.9 for each unit.

According to the report, about 26.8% of iPhone 12 Pro components come from South Korea, including 21.9% from the United States, 13.6% from Japan, 11.1% from Taiwan, 4.6 % of China and the rest of Europe and others.
