Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro may not include solid-state buttons

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models will no longer have semiconductor buttons. The change is due to unresolved technical issues before mass production.

Kuo had previously stated that the devices would be equipped with solid-state buttons that provide haptic feedback to simulate the feeling of pressing a button. However, in a Medium post, he confirmed that the phones will have physical buttons instead.

It is unclear whether the design will feature two volume buttons or one elongated button as previously rumored. Kuo believes the change will have limited impact on the schedule and delivery of mass production of the Pro models, as Apple still has time to tweak the device’s design during the EVT development stage, MacRumors reports.

Meanwhile, another report recently claimed that the iPhone 15 Pro will feature a titanium frame with more rounded edges, new buttons, a giant camera bump, and more. According to GSMArena, the size of the individual camera protrusions will increase again, and the entire bump will become thicker.

In addition, the report mentioned that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will also have a smaller camera protrusion that is rumored to have a periscope zoom lens. According to previous speculation, the iPhone 15 Pro’s cameras will feature “all-new sensor technology that captures more light and reduces overexposure or underexposure in certain settings.”

A USB-C port is also widely expected to be included in all versions of the iPhone 15, but the fastest charging is limited to USB-C cables certified by Apple. The report further revealed that the volume and mute buttons are haptic rather than physical, with two haptic engines dedicated to simulating button presses.

The mute switch is no longer a slide switch, but a haptic button. Like the rear glass, the display glass has a subtle curve that seamlessly transitions into the titanium frame, with just 1.55mm bezels all around.

Thinner bezels make the iPhone 15 Pro narrower than its predecessor, as the screen size remains the same, according to the report.
