Apple To Release iOS 17.1 Update Today

Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is releasing iOS 17.1, iPadOS 17.1, macOS Sonoma 14.1, tvOS 17.1, watchOS 10.1 and HomePod Software 17.1 updates to the public today. These updates are expected to be available at 10:00 AM Pacific Time (10:30 PM IST).

According to MacRumors, the company recently submitted release candidates (RCs) for its upcoming software updates, which are usually tested for a week to catch critical issues. This time, the rollout date is confirmed due to a special feature of iOS 17.1 for iPhone 12 models in France.

The update, which is set to reduce radiation levels while the device is in place, is expected to be available by October 24 (today), as announced by French regulatory group ANFR.

iOS 17.1 Update: What to Expect

While iOS 17.1 doesn’t introduce a Journal app, it does bring some handy additions. It now allows you to continue large AirDrop file transfers over the Internet, allowing you to log out during the process.

You can also easily add your favorite songs in Apple Music, keep the screen on in StandBy mode with new options and expect better screen time on different devices.

This update also includes bug fixes that fix issues such as Messages search issues and persistent images on the new iPhone 15 models.

How to Download iOS 17.1 Update on iPhone

– Go to Settings > General > Software Update.

– Tap on Automatic Updates and then enable Download iOS Updates.

– Enable Install iOS updates.

– Your device will be automatically updated to the latest iOS version

Moreover, the latest Apple Watch update is also set to bring some of the best features. The update includes support for NameDrop for quickly sharing contacts with another person, and adds Double Tap to the latest models, MacRumors reports.

With Double Tap, you can tap your index finger and thumb together, for example, to answer calls and bring up the Smart Stack.
