Apple Self-Repair Program Now Includes iPhone 14 Series and M2 MacBooks

This week, Apple is expanding its self-repair program to include the newest iPhone and MacBook models. The iPhone 14 series and M2-powered MacBooks are now eligible for the program, allowing customers to obtain parts directly from Apple and perform their own repairs.

The program basically helps with spare parts for these iPhone and MacBook models. You can also rent tool kits to help you open the devices and attach the parts. Apple says it will cost customers $49 (roughly Rs. 400) to get the toolkit.

“The Apple tools available to customers in the Self Service Repair Store are the same as in the Apple repair network.” The tool kit is delivered to the customer free of charge.

The company pointed out that the price of spare parts for these iPhones is the same as what you pay at its authorized repair shops. In fact, Apple says that customers who offer a replaced part for recycling will receive some form of refund. Bringing new models to its program shows that the company is serious about the initiative, and this will also act as a catalyst for other brands to enter the self-repair program ecosystem.

Apple claims that this store offers more than 200 individual parts and tools, making it easy for those with previous repair experience to repair the iPhone’s screen, battery, and camera. And although Apple has started this service, it recommends that people who have no experience in repairing electronic devices go to a professional to get it repaired in the safest way.

In addition to Apple, Samsung and Google make their own versions of self-repair programs, but the availability of the service for all these brands is still limited to certain markets. We hope that as more countries embrace third-party fixes, such programs will reach more consumers.
