Discover the Benefits of Google Pay UPI LITE

Google Pay has introduced UPI Lite, eliminating the need for users to enter their UPI PIN. This new version enables existing Google Pay users to make digital payments more quickly. Additionally, users can now conveniently make small payments with just one click. This improvement is significant as Google Pay users have traditionally relied on the PIN method, which lengthens the payment process. With UPI Lite, users can now effortlessly make instant payments of even less than Rs.200 without requiring the UPI PIN.

About Google Pay UPI Lite

The Lite account is linked to the user’s bank account, but does not support the long core banking system. This new addition enables fast payments even during peak hours. Users can recharge their UPI Lite account up to Rs 2000 twice a day and users can make quick payments up to Rs 200. Note that these transactions do not appear in the user’s bankbook. Therefore, the passport book is less full of small events.

  • Here’s how to activate this feature in Google Pay:
  • Go to your profile page in the Google Pay app and tap activate UPI LITE
  • Complete the linking process and then you can add funds up to Rs. 2000 for UPI LITE account with a daily maximum limit of Rs. 4000.
  • Ensure transaction values are less than or equal to Rs. 200, UPI LITE account is selected by default.
  • To complete the transaction, you just need to tap “Pay without PIN”.

Ambarish Kenghe, Head of Product Management, Google said, “At Google Pay, we feel privileged to work with the Government of India, NPCI and RBI to increase the reach and utility of UPI. By introducing UPI LITE on the platform, we aim to simplify low-value transactions by helping users access a convenient, compact and highly for a fast payment experience.

UPI Lite was launched by the RBI last year to facilitate payment transactions and is enabled by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Currently, 15 banks support UPI Lite, with more to come in the coming months.
