Elon Musk and Linda Yaccarino Appointed to Lead X’s Trust and Safety Team

On Monday, the social media company formerly known as Twitter announced that both Elon Musk, the owner of X, and Linda Yaccarino, the Chief Executive, will jointly supervise the trust and safety team.

X’s product and engineering team will report to Musk, while Yaccarino will oversee all other departments, including human resources, legal, finance, sales and operations, X said.

The trust and security team responsible for content moderation has been the target of criticism of the platform since Musk bought the company last October. Researchers have accused X of relaxing content safeguards, leading to a spike in malicious posts. The company has said that the majority of content views are “healthy” posts.

In an email sent to X employees on Monday and shared with Reuters, Yaccarino said the company is looking for a new director of safety and compliance for the brand.

The previous sign director of safety A.J. Brown, who worked to prevent ads from appearing next to inappropriate content, left the company last month.

Yaccarino said in an email that the three X directors oversee a variety of trust and security responsibilities, including law enforcement operations and threat disruption.

The changes to the trust and security came after Ella Irwin stepped down as team manager in June.
