What to Expect from the iOS 17 Beta Update: Could iPhone 15 Pro Features be Revealed?

The launch event for the Apple iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to happen in the coming weeks, generating significant excitement online. The anticipation stems from the potential high prices of these premium phones. Although Apple has kept tight-lipped and secretive about the upcoming releases, information about the changes has been discovered through the iOS 17 update. Specifically, the new iOS 17 beta 7 release has revealed several details about the modifications.

Goodbye Mute Switch, Hello Action Button

As reported by 9to5Mac, a special feature known as the “Action Button” will replace the well-known mute switch on both versions of the iPhone 15 Pro. This new button doesn’t physically move like the mute switch, but it uses a technology called haptic feedback to let you know when you’ve turned silent mode on or off. In the past, when people used the mute switch, their phones didn’t give any special signals when they muted or turned off their voice. But with this new button, the phone will notify you with a specific tap.

Mixed reactions

While it’s nice to see that Apple is considering making the Action Button more user-friendly, some people may not be happy with this discovery. People who are used to the old mute switch may find this change unnecessary. The mute switch has become a habit for millions of iPhone users everywhere.

But there are positive aspects to this change. Earlier hints found in iOS 17 beta code showed that the Action Button can be customized to do many different things. It can be set to help with accessibility features, shortcuts, silent mode, using the camera, turning on the flashlight, focusing the camera, zooming in on things, translating, and recording voice memos. We don’t yet know if you can assign multiple actions to different types of presses or gestures.

Additionally, this new fixed button could be louder than the old mute switch, it could get less dirty, and it could even make the phone more water resistant. If done correctly, this change can benefit buyers. If people like it, Apple might use it on all iPhone 16 variants next year.

Titanium frames, slim bezels and more

Along with this news, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max (which could be renamed Ultra) get a new material for their body – titanium. They also have incredibly thin bezels around the screen, ultra-fast USB-C ports and a super-advanced A17 chip. The Pro Max is the only one to get Apple’s first 10x optical zoom lens.
