Introducing Q: Amazon’s AI Chatbot for Corporate Customers!

Amazon.com Inc. has entered the competition of chatbots by introducing Amazon Q, a digital assistant designed to assist corporate clients in searching for information, coding, and evaluating business metrics.

Amazon Web Services, the retailer’s cloud services division, is adding generative artificial intelligence to new products and expanding its efforts to regain its footing in a field dominated by its main rivals.

Chatbots powered by generative artificial intelligence are “really very useful for consumers,” Adam Selipsky, chief executive of AWS, said Tuesday at re:Invent, the company’s conference in Las Vegas. “But in many ways, these apps don’t really work at work.”

Amazon Q, which the company says is trained in part on AWS’ internal code and documentation, is available to developers using the company’s cloud service. It will also be added to Amazon’s business intelligence software and programs for call center workers and logistics managers. According to the company, the assistant can be customized to take into account company information or an individual’s profile. Microsoft Corp. with its Copilot products and Alphabet Inc.’s Google have made similar moves.
