‘Minecraft’ for ChromeOS Now Available to All, Compatible with More Devices

After a period of early access, Minecraft is now widely accessible on Chromebook. Minecraft: Bedrock Edition can be purchased from the Google Play Store for $20, providing access to the Android version of the game, which usually costs $7, at no additional charge. If you have previously purchased the game on Android and use the same Google account on Chromebook, you can obtain the latest port for $13.

Mojang started offering this version on Chromebook in early March. At that time, it was only available in certain models that met the minimum requirements.

Minecraft runs on all Chromebooks from the past three years, along with other models that meet Google’s minimum requirements. It includes full cross-platform support, so you can explore and create with friends using Bedrock Edition on mobile, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Windows. Other versions of Minecraft were previously available on Chromebooks, namely the older Java version and the Education Edition. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can also access the game on a Chromebook via Xbox Cloud Gaming.

The latest Chromebook version also includes access to the Minecraft Marketplace and the new Trails & Tales update. With the latter, you can, among other things, encounter new crowds and blocks and leave messages for friends on customizable hanging signs.
