Netflix now offers custom and subtitles for TV users

Netflix is rolling out a new feature to its TV users worldwide that allows them to customize the size and style of subtitles.

The new update allows users to choose from three sizes (small, medium, and large) and four styles/colors (default white text option, shadow, light, and contrast), reports TechCrunch.

Previously, Netflix users could only access subtitle customization options online.

This update improves the viewing experience for TV users. For example, setting the correct size and style of subtitles can really help visually impaired, deaf and hard of hearing viewers.

According to streaming data analytics company Conviva, 77 percent of all streaming minutes worldwide in the first quarter of last year occurred on large screens such as connected TVs, smart TVs and game consoles.

“Today’s Netflix update comes nearly a year after the streamer released badges for audio and subtitles and expanded to more than 11,000 hours of audio in more than 30 languages,” the report states.
