OnePlus May Release Foldable Phone in August

According to reports, OnePlus is preparing to make its debut in the foldable market in the upcoming months, with the potential introduction of its first foldable phones in August. Additionally, the company is expected to hold a major launch event in New York, United States, as stated in the same report.

The OnePlus foldable release timeline is in line with what the company said during the launch of the OnePlus 11 series earlier this year. In fact, the foldable device is part of OnePlus and its strategy to build a product ecosystem that now also includes a tablet. OnePlus Fold could be an interesting newcomer in the folding arena.

The report comes at a time when Samsung has officially confirmed that its next Unpacked event is scheduled for the end of July, where we could see the next-generation Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 devices, among others. Samsung is taking a major launch event to its home market of South Korea this year, which is a big change from the past few years in the US.

Going back to the OnePlus Fold, the trademark filing suggests that OnePlus could call it the X Series, and a Flip version will also be part of the lineup. Rumors suggest that OnePlus could use its parent company’s Find N3 folding design in its devices, and even the hardware technology will be shared.

The foldable OnePlus could include an 8-inch main screen and a 6.5-inch outer screen. It should be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen chipset with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. OnePlus could take advantage of the Hasselblad connection to split the camera and offer fast charging support for the battery.

When it comes to pricing, OnePlus needs to be aggressive with its price tag, even though the foldable segment in general has yet to reach a mass level. We expect the OnePlus Flip model to be priced around Rs 90,000, while the Fold version will be priced above Rs 100,000.
