OpenAI Introduces ChatGPT Plus Code Interpreter – Could It Replace Data Scientists?

OpenAI has made several announcements this week, and among them is the launch of the Code Interpreter plugin. This plugin was first introduced a few months ago in Alpha mode, but it will now be accessible to ChatGPT Plus users in Beta mode from next week. With the Code Interpreter, ChatGPT gains the ability to perform a range of tasks including data analysis, chart creation, file editing, mathematical operations, and even code execution. This update brings exciting possibilities for data science applications.

Now that Code Interpreter is available in beta, ChatGPT Plus users can use a plugin that offers functionality that can potentially replace a data scientist. It provides tools for data visualization, trend analysis, and data transformation commonly used by data scientists. Users rave about this plugin and share tips on how to use it. Initially, 12 plugins were announced in April, but now more than 200 ChatGPT plugins are available on the platform, analyticsindiamag reported.

What are the security issues?

OpenAI is aware of the ongoing concerns surrounding AI and security. When ChatGPT extensions were first released, there were concerns about the security of user data. People were worried about possible jailbreaks and fast technical attacks. However, OpenAI is actively working to improve the security of add-ons.

Privacy has always been an issue for OpenAI. There have been incidents related to data leaks in the past, and recently the company had to temporarily disable the function due to a data leak. This week, OpenAI quickly withdrew its latest browser feature on mobile devices (using Bing) within two weeks of its release due to a data leak. Just like Code Interpreter, the browser feature was also in beta.

Despite these security concerns, OpenAI is still moving forward with its announcements. This week they revealed their plans to form a team dedicated to achieving peak balance over the next four years. Additionally, they announced the general availability of the GPT-4 API. OpenAI seems to be focusing on new features and future plans to achieve AGI, while also addressing security aspects.
