‘Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown’ Set to Release in 2024 as a Metroidvania-style Platformer

The fate of Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake remains uncertain, but fans of the franchise can now look forward to a new side story. At Summer Games Fest 2023, Ubisoft revealed Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, an action-adventure platformer that draws inspiration from the Metroidvania structure.

Flipping the franchise’s platforming to the more exploratory and action-focused gameplay of Metroid and Castlevania sounds like a natural twist — but that’s not the only change to the format Lost Crown has to offer. Instead of taking on the role of the titular prince, Lost Crown asks players to rescue him as Sargon, a new hero and part of a group called “The Immortals.” Ubisoft promises that the game will feature intense platforming, giant boss battles, puzzles, and new character abilities and powers along the way.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is released on the 18th. January 2024 for all platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One, as well as PC via the Epic Games Store and Amazon Luna. .
