Samsung to Release 57-inch Ultrawide Dual 4K Gaming Monitor in October for $2,500

Samsung has announced the release date and price of the Odyssey Neo G9 model, which was previously teased at CES 2023. This widescreen gaming monitor is capable of displaying the same amount of content as two UHD screens, with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160. It will be available for purchase in October 2023 for $2,500.

That’s what you’d pay for two really nice 4K screens, but the price seems justified. It’s a mini-LED with HDR 1000 support, which means it offers 1,000 nits of peak brightness (or an average of about 450 nits total) and 10-bit color processing, along with a 240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, two HDMI 2.1 port, one HDMI 2.0 port and DisplayPort 2.1 input. Buyers also get AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro variable refresh rate and, of course, an incredibly wide 57-inch (32:9) 7680 x 2160 aspect ratio with a rather extreme 1000R curve.

It comes with picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture functionality that gives you multiple feeds at a glance. Other features include an ergonomic stand and Core Lighting+ and CoreSync, which provide ambient lighting that works in concert with games and other visuals.

Samsung talked about the value of DisplayPort 2.1 as it has three times the bandwidth of DisplayPort 1.4 and allows for 4K 240Hz gaming. It has only been announced or seen on a few screens so far. However, the only way to take advantage of it for now would be AMD’s latest Radeon RX 7900XT and RX 7900XTX GPUs (or its pro W7000 cards) – as the standard isn’t found on NVIDIA’s latest RTX 4000 series cards.

As such, using such a display anywhere near the best for gaming would require an expensive PC setup. However, the screen would be useful for other purposes, such as an incredible multitasking productivity monitor or a versatile content creation monitor (if you can handle the curve). As mentioned, it will arrive in the US in October for $2,500.
