Say Goodbye to Bloatware and Ads – Company Promises Its Next Phone Will Be Bloatware and Ad-Free!

More and more smartphone brands are realizing the need to remove bloatware from their phones, and iQOO is the latest to join the bandwagon by ditching these irritants from its next device due out in December. The iQOO 12 comes without apps like Hot Apps, which have been the catalyst for advertisements for previous iQOO devices.

For many years, people have struggled with ads and bloatware on phones that cost up to Rs 20,000, but these days you see ads on phones that cost around a lakh, which is never a good look for a company that does these things.

iQOO wants to show that it listens to customers and removing these apps is a good step. But that’s not all, the iQOO 12 also gets several OS updates, three to be exact, and a similar timeline for security updates.

These updates come a few days after iQOO confirmed that its next flagship phone, which will launch in India on December 12, will feature Android 14-based Funtouch OS.

So far, only the Google Pixel 8 series has been released with the new Android version, and the others are only offering the version through an OTA update. OnePlus has committed to additional operating system updates for its new models, while Google has promised 7 years of operating system and data security support for the Pixel 8 series launched this year.

The iQOO 12 is also the first phone in the country to launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which will be available in the OnePlus 12 and Xiaomi 14 series models in early 2024. Realme is a big culprit of pushing bloatware and ads, so we hope other brands follow iQOO in changing and removing these features, especially from their flagship phones.
