Swift Students: Get Ready to Take on the Apple Challenge in 2024!

US tech giant Apple has announced plans to hold its next Swift Student Challenge event in February 2024. The Swift Student Challenge obliges students to create an innovative coding project using the Swift Playgrounds app.

Starting in 2020, students participating in the challenge have joined a global community of developers using Swift – the same programming language used by professionals – to create a new wave of ground-breaking apps. The next challenge will open in February 2024 and will include a new category recognizing 50 outstanding winners who will be named based on standout applications.

There are 350 winners in this year’s Swift Student Challenge, with a total of 50 distinguished winners in the series. All meritorious winners will be invited to Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California, where they will be able to connect with their peers and the Apple team, and all winners will receive one year of free membership in the Apple Developer Program.

Starting in February 2024, students have three weeks to submit their app playground to Apple. Apple judges the contests on technical achievements, creativity of ideas and the content of written responses explaining the project. Students can register on the Apple Developer site to be notified when returns open.

Eligibility criteria

Students who are at least 13 years of age in the United States or the equivalent minimum age in that jurisdiction. They must register as an Apple Developer with Apple or be a member of the Apple Developer Program.

Meet one of the following requirements:

– Be enrolled in an accredited academic institution or similar official home school;

– be involved in the STEM organization’s curriculum;

– Enroll in the Apple Developer Academy or

– you have graduated from high school or equivalent within the last 6 months and are awaiting acceptance or have been accepted to an accredited higher education institution

– And a person shouldn’t have a full-time job as a developer.

The Challenge is intended for student developers who are developing their software development skills. You can receive a Swift Student Challenge Award or WWDC Scholarship up to four times.
