Tim Cook Explains Benefits of Annual iPhone Releases

It’s been more than a month since the iPhone 15 series was launched at Apple’s Wanderlust event, and since then there has been a debate about whether it’s worth upgrading the models in the iPhone 14 series – especially from the iPhone 14 Pro to the iPhone 15 Pro. However, it’s worth noting that this opinion raises a significant portion of user conversation every year when new iPhones are launched – either in reviews or user feedback.

The same thing happened when the iPhone 14 Pro launched with Dynamic Island, and people wondered if it was worth upgrading to Dynamic Island, and it’s likely the same will happen in the future. While Apple management has previously stated that iPhones are built to last, Apple CEO Tim Cook has recently shared his thoughts on whether it makes sense to buy a new iPhone every year.

In an interview with Brut, Tim Cook said that he thinks it’s positive that people who want to upgrade their iPhones have the option to do so. “I think it’s a great thing to have an iPhone every year for those who want it,” Cook told Brut.

Cook went on to say that Apple allows users to trade in their iPhones. If the phone still works, Apple will still sell it. However, if the phone no longer works, Apple disassembles it and uses the parts to make new iPhones. While this doesn’t directly answer the question of whether users should upgrade their iPhones every year, it does give some insight into how Apple works and what exactly it does with older iPhones that are being traded in.
