After Years of Waiting, Windows Users Will Finally Have Access to This Feature

Windows users have many features that keep them hooked on the platform and not entice them to switch to Mac. But there is one important feature that has been missing for years. Not anymore, because Windows 11 PCs have a feature that lets you see the word count when you type something in Notepad.

You might feel like this isn’t a very big addition, but when you consider that Windows users never had a chance to check the word count all these years, it’s a big upgrade indeed.

Technically, the update has not been announced yet, and those with access to the latest test version of the Canary channel can see this feature in Notepad. Word count has been available in Word for years, and even Google Docs has a shortcut that shows the number of words typed in a document. But Notepad has been missing out on this tool, which will finally be fixed with the latest Windows 11 update.

The feature works like any word count option in other apps. You can select a specific part of a paragraph and see the word count at the bottom of Notepad’s status bar. Similarly, if you don’t select any word/paragraph or sentence, Muistio will show you the word count of the whole paragraph.

While these kinds of features will get Windows 11 users excited, it goes without saying that everyone is eager to see how Microsoft brings AI to the Windows ecosystem in 2024.

According to reports, the Windows 12 version will include a lot of AI features that will likely use the expertise of its ChatGPT. Microsoft has a strong partnership with OpenAI, and its investment in the AI giant has clearly helped the company grow and move faster than other tech brands like Google and Amazon.
