AirPlay Screen Mirroring May Be Available on Apple Vision Pro: Here’s What You Need to Know

Apple’s mixed reality headset, the Vision Pro, which the iPhone maker calls a “space computer,” supports screen mirroring via AirPlay or FaceTime. Apple’s space computer was unveiled earlier this year for $3,499.

However, the Vision Pro headset will be available in the US in early 2024, before expanding to other countries later.

According to a MacRumors report, you can mirror your Vision Pro screen to an external monitor or TV, or share your view with others via ‌AirPlay‌ or ‌FaceTime‌. Other headsets, such as the Meta Quest, have similar features that can help reduce the feeling of isolation of the headset wearer.

Apple’s visionOS 1.0 beta 4 revealed a new option to reset EyeSight data. EyeSight is a feature that displays the user’s simulated eyes on an ‌Apple Vision Pro‌ external display. The option is as follows: To reset EyeSight, go to Settings > People Awareness and tap Reset Personalized EyeSight.

This will remove personal eye information from EyeSight, such as eye shape and size, but EyeSight will still use your skin color if possible. After resetting EyeSight, you can restore it by taking your Persona again.

The report also hinted that a user’s Persona will be sent to all participants in a ‌FaceTime‌ call so that other participants can view the user’s Persona. ‌

Apple Vision Pro‌ can create personas using machine learning, allowing users to share virtual representations of themselves that reflect facial and hand movements in real time with others during ‌FaceTime‌.

“For FaceTime calls on a VisionOS device, your Persona is securely broadcast to all call participants so they can see your Persona. Once the call is complete, your Persona can be stored encrypted on other call participants’ devices for up to 30 days. Other call participants can only access your Persona while they are on the call with you,” MacRumors said.
