Android Users Receive Enhanced Security with Google Chrome Update, Easily Erase Browsing History

Regardless of who you are or why you use the internet, ensuring data privacy is crucial. The majority of individuals desire to maintain their privacy and avoid being observed by others. Frequently, a typical day’s internet activity may involve searching for private medical information, making trivial inquiries, and occasionally seeking out details related to financial or personal data.

A handy new feature has arrived for Android users. With a few taps, you can quickly clear the last 15 minutes of your Google Chrome browsing history. To access this feature, click the three dots in the upper right corner of Chrome and select Clear Browsing Data. By default, it removes the last quarter hour of your browsing activity.

Google is constantly working to improve user privacy and has also made it easy to clear your site’s data and recent tabs in one convenient place.

To make it even simpler, Google has added a helpful GIF to its website to demonstrate how easy it is to use this new tool. You can check it here.

So you can be as jaded or adventurous online as you want; with a few taps, you can quickly erase all traces of your digital journey.

In a recent update, Google also introduced the Dark Web report, which offers users the ability to check if their Gmail address has been exposed on the dark web. This report is now easily accessible in the Google Apps account menu on Android, and is scheduled to be brought to iOS soon. Your online security just got a little more comprehensive.

How the Dark Web Report Works

By subscribing to a Google One membership, you get access to a feature that allows you to create a profile for dark web tracking. The purpose of this feature is to alert you if your personal data has been detected as a breach of privacy.

This is how it works:

Dark Web Data Check: You can perform a search on the dark web to identify any information related to your email address or other information that you have added to your monitoring profile. The results of these searches may include the following information:

  • Your name
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Email
  • Social Security Number (SSN)
  • Username
  • Password
  • Eligibility Criteria

Dark web reports are currently available in certain countries and regions. Google plans to expand this support to more countries and regions over time. To confirm where Dark Web reports are available, you can check availability in your area.

To get a dark web report, you must have a Google consumer account. Note that Google Workspace accounts and supervised accounts are not compatible with dark web reports.

You need a paid Google One membership to unlock certain features, such as continuous dark web monitoring of your personal information, access to other results to your email address, and receive notifications of new results.
