Console Version of Popular Pandemic Game ‘Phasmophobia’ to Launch in August

During the pandemic, games such as Phasmophobia, Among Us, and Animal Crossing became popular as they provided a means of connection through co-op ghost hunts when in-person meetings were too risky. If you have missed out on playing Phasmophobia or have fond memories of it, you will be pleased to know that Kinetic Games is launching the game on PlayStation 5, PlayStation VR2, and Xbox Series X/S in early access this August. The game will have cross-platform support, allowing players to seek help from others while exploring spooky houses from the comfort of their living rooms.

The starting point remains the same. It’s up to you and up to three other players to produce evidence of ghosts using familiar pseudoscience tools like thermometers, EMF readers, and Ouija boards. The more you find, the more you can sell to ghost removal teams. The catch, of course, is that these are not friendly revelations. They can go hunting and kill players, especially when your team’s sanity is low. It’s not uncommon to see the last player alive running out in a panic.

The console is released almost three years after the PC debut. As among us, its heyday is over. However, the fan base is still substantial (over 10,800 average daily players on Steam as of this writing), and availability on other platforms could both expand the audience and give PC gamers more help in paranormal research.
