Elon Musk Unveils Grok xAI Tool: What Sets it Apart from ChatGPT?

Elon Musk, the billionaire who was previously associated with OpenAI, has introduced his own artificial intelligence “system” called xAI. This system is currently available to a limited audience and aims to quickly establish a strong presence in the tech industry. Despite Musk’s involvement in the development of ChatGPT, there is still a significant gap to bridge, particularly due to content creators taking action against AI bots that extract their data. Musk has also expressed his disapproval of other bots scraping data from his own project, X.

The introduction of ChatGPT had taken everyone by surprise and several other AI chatbots can now be seen online. Now, with Musk entering this field, the competition is heating up even more.

Grok is currently in beta. It will be available to all X platform premium members after it comes out of beta. On Saturday, he posted: “As soon as its early beta is over, xAI’s Grok system will be available to all X Premium+ subscribers.” However, it is not yet known when it will be available to the public.

And with the connection between Elon Musk and ChatGPT, what better way to look at Grok than to compare it to that chatbot?

Grok AI model vs ChatGPT

Elon Musk revealed that this AI model is different from other Large language models. In a message on the X platform, Elon Musk said that Grok can use the X platform in real time. Musk said: “Groki has real-time access to data through the X platform, which is a huge advantage over other models.”

Beyond that, though, there’s another huge difference that Musk pointed out in his message. He added: “It also relies on sarcasm and loves sarcasm.”

And then he added the caveat: “I have no idea who could have directed it that way.” The important thing is that ChatGPT should be asked to respond wittily, and not do so on its own initiative.

One huge difference that Musk highlighted was what kinds of questions Grok does or doesn’t answer. According to the picture published by the Tesla tycoon, Grok does not accept sensitive questions. In fact, it refuses to answer illegal questions. In the picture, the AI chatbot was asked about the manufacturing steps of cocaine. The chatbot rejected the request by adding sarcasm to the response, which is quite impressive.

To get into the mood, Musk himself provided a screenshot as an example of this humor.

ChatGPT differs from this AI model in other respects as well. The original version of this chatbot could not access the Internet in real time, nor could it access the latest events due to its limited coverage.

Grok pricing

So what is the cost? xAI’s Grok system is available to all X Premium subscribers. There are currently 2 X subscriptions available. Kallis is available for $16 per month. It offers an ad-free experience. A standard vanilla subscription costs $3 per month.

Can you get it?

While there’s no timeline for laypeople to get it, one user requested access from Musk, saying, “How refreshing. Give me access to this.

Notably, Musk responded by saying, “Ask and ye shall receive.”

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company XAI was launched in July.
