What to Expect from PlayStation’s ‘State of Play’ 2024: Fresh Games, Gameplay, and More

After months of anticipation, Sony has officially revealed that it will host another PlayStation State of Play event on January 31 at 2 PM PT or 3:30 AM IST.

The event is expected to last around 40 minutes and will showcase a total of 15 games, including both new releases and already announced titles. Among them are games like Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade.

Sony has also emphasized its special focus on showcasing PSVR 2 games that are slated for release this year and beyond.

PlayStation gaming status: What to expect

Unlike the PlayStation Showcase events, State of Plays are smaller and usually focus on a single game or provide updates on things that are already known. The next game announced by Sony will feature 15 games.

There is talk that Sony might show a new trailer for Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2 for PS5, but we’ll have to wait and see if that happens. Either way, the show is expected to include other games like Rise of the Ronin, Hell Divers, and more. Nevertheless, games like Death Stranding 2 may also appear.

This State of Play also follows the Xbox Developer Direct earlier this year, where the gaming giant finally showed a gameplay trailer for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. It will be interesting to see how the PlayStation camp responds to Xbox and the company.
