Gameplay of ‘Alan Wake II’ Reveals Saga Battling a Resurrected Victim of Homicide

After much anticipation, the sequel to Alan Wake is confirmed to be released in October. During Summer Game Fest Live, Remedy creative director Sam Lake provided additional information and showcased fresh gameplay footage.

Remedy’s first survival horror game features two main characters. Newcomer Saga Anderson, an FBI agent, joins Alan Wake this time. Lake revealed that there will be a 50-50 split between each character’s story. You start the game as Saga and can switch between him and Alan at certain points during the game.

Saga and his partner travel to a small town in the Pacific Northwest to “investigate a series of ritualistic murders,” Lake said. However, their mission becomes a living horror story that may or may not have been created by an author.

The gameplay shown by Lake is from an early episode. It focuses on supernatural powers that resurrect a murder victim into a monster that Saga must fight. The clip opens with him walking through a forest and an abandoned building with the help of his trusty flashlight before he encounters said beast. The footage (followed by a short trailer) looks suitably terrifying. Remedy threw in a couple of jump scares for good measure.

You’ll soon find out for yourself just how scary Alan Wake II really is. It’s coming to Xbox Series X, PS5, and PC via the Epic Games Store on October 17th.
