Here’s What You Can Get From Apple as They Settle Yet Another Legal Case

Apple has a history with legal cases, and the company manages to settle them in most cases. Once again, the iPhone maker has made headlines for settling another case, this time with Apple’s Family Sharing, which was the subject of a lawsuit. According to a new report by MacRumors, Apple has paid $25 million over the case, which will allow some users to get $30 (roughly Rs. 250) from the company for misleading them about using apps under the Family Sharing plan.

Apple’s Family Sharing plan is like any other plan, giving you access to a bunch of apps for up to 5 family members, but the lawsuit says Apple wasn’t clear if the plan also includes access to non-Apple apps, the report said. more.

It appears that the complaint refers to ads on Apple’s home pages that deceptively claim that non-Apple apps are also part of the Family Sharing plan, which was never the case. Interestingly, many people seem to have fallen into the trap of thinking that the plan works for all other apps, and even bought a subscription thinking they would get more apps for many family members.

The case looks at Family Sharing group enrollment from June 21, 2015 to January 30, 2019. So if you had paid for the Family Sharing plan and received a third-party app through the App Store, you can get a refund of up to $30 (roughly Rs 250) as long as you want to get paid .

The company is clear on its thought process and defends its actions by saying it has done nothing wrong (with these fraudulent claims) but a settlement has been reached so the case will be closed soon.

Apple is already contacting the affected parties to let them know the details of the settlement and how they can receive it. However, if one of you does not receive mail, you have the opportunity to register on the lawsuit’s website until March 1, 2024.
