HP continues to increase its local production in India: CEO Enrique Lores

As supply chain disruptions continue to haunt technology companies globally, large PCs and printers, HP Inc is manufacturing its next-generation product range locally in India to respond to the domestic market much better and more efficiently, company CEO Enrique. Lores has emphasized.

Lores tells IS that India is a key market area for HP, where growth will continue and the company will continue to see more opportunities.

“We are increasing our manufacturing footprint in India to meet domestic demand well. Ultimately, we see India manufacturing to help us better serve the rest of the world,” Lores said at the company’s flagship ‘HP Amplify Partner Conference 2023’ event here.

HP Inc already manufactures several PC products including laptops in India as part of the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The company manufactures several models of laptops, desktop towers and mini-desktops at the Flex facility in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

HP also manufactures monitors in the country.

The company led the Indian PC market (excluding tablets) with over 30 percent market share in both the fourth quarter and full year 2022, according to the latest data from global market research firm Canalys.

The company currently manufactures a wide range of laptops in India such as HP EliteBooks, HP ProBooks and HP G8 series laptops.

It has also expanded its locally manufactured commercial desktop PCs with the addition of various models of desktop mini towers (MT), mini desktops (DM), small form factor (SFF) desktops and a range of All-in-Ones.

These products have both Intel and AMD processor options and cater to a wide range of customer segments.

HP partnered with supply chain and manufacturing solutions provider Flex to manufacture commercial desktops in the country from August 2020.

According to Lores, India offers the company a huge opportunity.

“We will continue to invest in India, which has always been one of our key markets globally,” the HP CEO told IANS.

The PC and printer maker is expanding its manufacturing portfolio to multiple products in India to ensure it plays a significant role in building the country into a global manufacturing hub.

The company has worked with central and state governments to empower the lives of millions of citizens and improve the quality of community life.

According to Lores, as large enterprises and small and medium enterprises (SMBs) in India and elsewhere hit the upgrade button in the post-pandemic era, digital transformation has begun to accelerate.

The adoption of digital technologies is not only limited to large companies as more and more SMEs are on the way to realize their digital dreams and adopt cutting-edge and secure workplaces, he had told IANS in an earlier interaction.
