Meta’s Threads app to introduce a new bookmark feature similar to Instagram for saving preferred posts

The Threads app, launched in 2023 as a competitor to Twitter (now X), initially gained popularity but lacked essential features according to users. One highly requested feature was the ability to bookmark posts and reels, similar to Instagram. Threads has now announced that they are testing this bookmark feature. Despite a significant drop in users after its initial surge to 100 million, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently revealed that Threads has now reached over 130 million active users. There is optimism that it may become another platform with billions of users. Find out Meta Platforms’ plans for the Threads app.

The Threads app gets a bookmark feature

According to Instagram boss Adam Mosser’s Threads post, the newly launched app will get an Instagram-like bookmarking feature to save posts on the platform. Mosseri said they’ve begun testing a “highly requested” feature that bookmarks posts in the Threads app. It was emphasized that this feature is already being tested with limited users. The post said: “Bookmark your favorite posts and come back to them later, just like you can on Instagram.”

Mosseri also asked for more user feedback on other new features they want in the Threads app. According to a report by ReturnByte, the Threads “Save” bookmark button looks quite similar to Instagram’s Save button.

Users can access bookmarked messages by going to the app’s settings and then going to the Save tab.

ReturnByte quoted a Meta spokesperson as saying, “We continue to listen to community feedback to improve the Threads experience.”

In recent months, Threads has received various tweaks, such as searchable tags, and now with a save button, the app looks more organized to the user. However, it is still uncertain whether the app will announce a direct messaging feature like X added the feature to its microblogging app.
